While I could list many issues facing New Hampshire today, I will talk about three which I believe are of particular importance.
1. Revenue, specifically high property taxes and downshifting from state government to local communities,
and the burden of the BET which almost encourages small companies to lay off workers during difficult economic times. I will support legislation to study our current tax
structure and look at all options--who is affected by each and how they are
affected. I am not promoting any specific answer. I am supporting asking the
questions.
2. Influence of out-of-state groups such as ALEC on our current
legislature, particularly in terms of anti-labor, anti-women, anti-GLBT and
anti-education agendas. I will stand behind NH workers, families and small
businesses. We do not need out of state groups and out of state money telling us what is best for New Hampshire.
3. The anti-government/pro-privatization agenda of the current
legislature. I will work hard to prevent passage of such legislation and keep my
constituents informed of the real consequences of such legislation.
